about

Ayamluz Wellness

For me (Owner, Founder, Bruja Acupuncturist, Jessica De Leon), there was never any doubt that I would open up my own practice. I founded my business in June of 2017 immediately after passing the CA State Boards, and originally named it When in Tao. My hope was to honor the Taoist roots of this medicine, while making it more accessible to those who need it.

I rented a rather cozy 2 treatment room office that I sublet with a friend. I found myself growing my private practice, volunteering at clinics, and working with non profits to help better the community. But it wasn't long before I realized my business name I were not on the same page. I was evolving as a practitioner and business owner. Some would seek us out for physical/mental/emotional support that Traditional acupuncture offers, while others would seek us out specifically for the spiritual work that happens with esoteric acupuncture.

My passion and practice of Esoteric Acupuncture continued to grow. I began to incorporate more and more of it into my daily treatments- which, to be honest, felt disingenuous to both Traditional Chinese Medicine and the name of my business. Additionally, through my work with these clinics and non profits, I realized how few Spanish speaking acupuncturists there were. My community longed for someone they could trust and begin this journey to wellness with.

January of 2020 my business had grown at such a steady rate, and it was time for an upgrade. Thus began the search for a larger office space… up until the world exploded that is. I closed my business from March until June of 2020, and like everyone else, had no idea what the next step was. But thankfully, the universe stepped in as it always does, and the opportunity presented itself. Do I take the risk, during a pandemic, and move into a gorgeous office space in a beautiful lush outdoor building, with 4 treatment rooms, large workshop room, and hire an employee?? Yup! “Put it all on red” I thought to myself.

So in August of 2020 we moved to the gorgeous location we’re at today.

Everything flourished! And so did my internal struggle of practicing as a “traditional” acupuncturist and a bruja acupuncturist. (bruja means witch en Español. a good witch, of course)

Then my daughter and muse, Maya Luz was born in 2021.

Everything changed. The vision became crystal clear at that point. A change needed to be made.

So, on 02/22/24, and the full moon of course, we rebranded to Ayamluz Wellness. A healing space that offers both Traditional and Esoteric Acupuncture. A space that offers 1 on 1’s, monthly donation based community clinic, and workshops/events.

A space that offers, wellness para todos.

About Jessica De Leon

Hey there! My name is Jessica De Leon. I am first generation Guatemalan- American, fluent in both English and Spanish, and a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist.

My Acupuncture journey began at the young age of 18. I was introduced to this beautiful medicine and never looked back. I knew instantly that this was my calling. I earned my Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Yo San University in Los Angeles in 2016 and passed the CA Boards in May 2017. I was fortunate enough to train in multiple clinics ranging from the Venice Family Pain Clinic to volunteering at Being Alive in West Hollywood ( a clinic dedicated to providing treatment to HIV patients). In 2015 I took part in intensive and advanced clinical training at the Acupuncture Academy in China: The China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center, and the Institute of Acupuncture and Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.

After focusing so heavily on Traditional Chinese Medicine, I chose to also study and become a Practitioner of Esoteric Acupuncture. I studied for an additional 2 years from 2017-2019 under Dr. Mikio Sankey to become certified in this beautiful modality. This allows me to work with the chakra system, sacred geometry, and the subconscious. Essentially taking the mind-body-spirit method to a much deeper level. I do my best to apply a little Esoteric and Traditional Acupuncture to all my treatments.

I am currently pursuing my doctorate degree at Yo San university. I will graduate in April 2026. If you’d like to follow my doctoral journey, I invite you to visit our blog!

I truly don’t know what profession I would seek out if not this one. I absolutely love being your of service to the community. This really is my calling, in every sense. It is such an honor to be able to practice a medicine that isn’t from my culture, and I will always do my best to be respectful of that fact. It is a balancing act of honoring the traditional aspects of this medicine while bringing my own culture and personal touch to it, in hopes that I may share it with you.

I hope to join you on your journey to wellness.
